Very nice staff, everyone was very helpful. The grounds and hotel are very well maintained and super clean. I did not realize how much there was to do up at the Monasterio. I'm very glad I've spent the night so I could get it all in. While you are there, it's like living in a little village with the greates view imaginable. Also, while I was there I was injured on my hike, and there was a medic on site that attended me free of charge.
Proximity to everything. Helpful staff. Stunning views.
The walls are very thin, you can hear conversations, coughing, sneezing very easily. It was not a problem for me, but if you are a light sleeper this may bother you. They have mandatory quiet hours after 10pm.
The room was comfortable and large. Bathroom was great. Also we loved the shrine and the hiking. Breakfast was great. Great food and wonderful coffee
The staff was a little snobby. They are doing construction and it was loud and disturbing. It was still going on at midnight and started at about 7:30. Not very conducive to peace and tranquility.
Spectacular location. Parts of the hotel and restaurant have walls that are literally the rock walls of Montserrat itself.
Their "single" room policy is completely inexplicable. The bed in a single room is a cama matrimonial, easily big enough for two. There are two person's worth of towels etc in the bathroom. Yet on their website they insist that these rooms are for one person only. I told them when we checked in that both my wife and I would be staying in the room, and (to avoid any arguments) she agreed to not go to the included breakfast buffet (as she usually skips breakfast anyway, this was no big deal -- but it was a very good buffet). But it would be so much simpler if they just added 5 or 10 euro to the price of a single-bed room and allowed two people to stay there. Bizarre.
Location of hotel to Montserrat monastery was excellent, parking not so much. Stayed one night only
This is a magical place with centuries of history attached, located high up in the mountain area about 50km from Barcelona. Many thousands of tourists visit each day and this can be a bit overwhelming. However, after 7pm you have the place to yourself. Both dinner and breakfast were of an excellent quality. The scenery is spectacular from any of the hotel rooms with the very unusual shaped rocks looking down at you.
There was some noise from renovation/building site close to the hotel but only daylight hours. Could drive car to the hotel and unload but was required to leave car overnight in a parking zone some distance from the hotel also at an extra cost. I booked the last room which was a twin room but still paid the same as for two people which included an extra breakfast which I did not need to use.
No a/c in the room, neither net against mosquito in the windows.
Wonderfull location, good breafast, nice spacious and clean room.
I did not like the fact that there is not a sign in the entrence that the hotel is situated at this location. It will be helpfull for others (we went down to the village and than up again because we thought it was the monastry but not the hotel!!!) to put a visible sign saying that the hotel is there!
We arrived by the Aeri and easily found the hotel - very quick walk. We arrived early and left our bags with the front desk. Check in was quick. The hotel room had the most amazing view! The front of the hotel has the best views as the rear of the hotel is against the mountain (book a twin room as they are located on the front side). Simple room with all of the basics. Included breakfast was very good. Check out was a bit slow (allow more time). Location and views are fantastic!
This is more of a suggestion - the hotel restaurant needs to expand their limited menu to include a vegetarian friendly dinner.
The location was very ideal. It was right outside the Our Lady of Montserrat Basilica which was the main purpose of our visit to Montserrat. The staff were very helpful.
A great place to be after the day's crowds leave. We felt on top of the world as far as view.Breakfast buffet was extraordinary. We appreciated the beautiful basket of fruit we took to our room from dinner (as dessert) to eat at our leisure later.
Arriving there, unloading luggage, dodging the crowds with our car and parking were a nightmare !! Only the toughest travelers would not have been anxious. I advise my friends not to visit on a weekend.I would have thought there would be a more select parking situation. The dinner choices for this time of year were very limited.IUnfortunately, nearby construction distracted from the peace and spirituality of the stay.
It is on top of a beautiful mountain. majestic, peacefull, strong faith base area.
You must carefully arrange meals due to only one resturant and one cafeteria that are open on a short window span. There is very little English spoken suggestion is to bring any paperwork in reguards to reservations with you. It is a lot of climbing to get to hotel
This is the only hotel in Montserrat, but they don't take their clients for granted. The help staff was excellent. The breakfast, included in the room price, is a full-out buffet where you can get pretty much anything you would want for breakfast. And if you can afford the half pension, which means you eat the fixed price lunch menu at the restaurant, you won't be disappointed by the quality. A first rate restaurant.
Located next to the cathedral. Very quiet and serene. Short walk from the funicular station. Free continental breakfast.
Uphill/up several stairs walk from funicular ~ not conducive if you have heavy bags. Restaurant was very pricey.
Fabulous location, helpful staff, good breakfast
Evening meal was pretty basic and therefore pricey for the quality, luggage drop off arrangements could be clearer - you need to be quite assertive to be allowed to drive up to the hotel to drop bags at busy times.
The restaurant was very good with a lovely ambiance. The room was very comfortable and we had a great view facing the church, however be prepared for the bells through the night. It is charming but be a little loud. There is construction work going on the square bit it causes little disruption.
